BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War (ブレイブルー オルタナティブ ダークウォー BureiBurū Orutanatibu Dāku Uō) is a free-to-play role-playing game announced for the iOS and Android systems. However, the game will shut down services on January 31, 2022. [1]

Plot[]

This is a story leading to the Blue.

When taking just a step from the usual calm, the world begins to end…

The Hell, with the name of a possibility, begins.[2]

Characters[]

  • The protagonist (Rei) — the character chosen by the player, either male or female.
  • Ciel Sulfur — a mysterious girl who belongs to the Mitsurugi Agency.[2]
  • Astrolabe (Raabe) - an Independent Thought Unit with a personality based on Kagami Hajou. Raabe assists the protagonist and Ciel Sulfur with their dives into Phantom Fields.
  • Kagami Hajou - a member of the Mitsurugi Agency who guides Ciel Sulfer and the protagonist. She's also a shopkeeper in the player store.
  • White Justice - similar to how Hakumen is the alternate future counterpart of Jin Kisaragi from a destroyed Calamity Trigger timeline, this warrior is the alternate counterpart of Tsubaki Yayoi, who briefly appeared in the ending scenes of BlazBlue: Centralfiction.
  • Another Dark Mai - A Possibility of Mai Natsume that has a "calamity factor" included in her existence. Fighting has become her reason for living, and she is currently acting on behalf of a certain someone.

Trivia[]

  • The game was initially meant to release in 2018 for iOS and Android, but was delayed until further notice,[4] even though preregistrations passed the 20000s.[5]. It was confirmed to be still in development by 2019[6]
  • The gameplay is planned to be relatively close to, or at least in reference to the fighting games, [7]. It also includes gachapon mechanics.
  • Promotional material featured art for characters beyond those in the initial announcement, like Nu-13[8], Hibiki Kohaku and Bullet.[9]
  • Ragna the Bloodedge was originally gonna be released around December 28, 2021 nearly a month before the service end the game. [10]
